A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Anemone pattern.
The height of the vase is 95mm.
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made. As there is no year cypher on the vase the latest possible date of manufacture would be c1989.
The MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND backstamps on the base (both impressed) suggest an actual date range c1949 to 1986 and clearly a genuine vintage age item..
Condition:-
Vintage and antique items may have imperfections due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage perhaps over many years and how an item has been stored. Small surface marks, tiny fleabites, areas of matt glaze, fine crazing etc may be present but any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description, and high quality images are provided. Of course any questions will be answered as accurately as possible.
The vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in very good vintage condition. In fact if not for a couple of very difficult to photograph small areas of matt glaze on the neck it would have have a excellent assessment.
The colours remain bright and on the dark blue ground make for an attractive item to display.
This Moorcroft vintage Anemone vase is available by online order only however if planning to visit the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 which is located on the Lower Ground Floor to view further Moorcroft Pottery from early vintage to more modern items.
