A vintage Moorcroft shallow bowl or plate in the Pansy design by Rachel Bishop.
The diameter is 257mm (10.11 inch) and the height 29mm (1.14 inch).
The backstamps include an impressed 'Diamond' year cypher for 1993 showing this as the actual year of production, hence a genuine vintage piece.
Rachel Bishop joined Moorcroft in 1993 as only the forth designer in the company's history and quickly established herself as a senior designer, and her designs are now widely collected.
The bowl has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is only a minimal amount of the age related crazing often present on vintage Moorcroft pottery and in fact on the upper surface it is very minimal indeed.
A colourful, decorative and very attractive item to add to a collection, but of course the physical size may well make it suitable to display as a stand alone specimen piece, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room, where it would certainly demand more than a cursory glance.
This Moorcroft shallow bowl in the Pansy design is available by online order only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138, situated on the Lower Ground Floor, to view other pieces of Moorcroft Pottery from early vintage to more modern examples.
Please Note: This item is offered for sale for purposes of display, collecting etc and may not be suitable for use with foodstuff.
