A vintage Moorcroft pin dish in the Anemone design with yellow ground. (Nb The ground is a definite yellow tone rather than the cream picked up by the camera in the image).
The diameter is 118mm and the height 19mm
The backstamps include an impressed arrow symbol which is the year cypher for 1990 showing this as the year of production, and hence a genuine vintage item.
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
The pin dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The tube lining is well defined, standing nicely proud of the surface. The purple and blue tones of the design on the rarer yellow ground makes for an attractive collectable item.
This vintage Moorcroft pin dish is available by online order only however if visiting the Antiques Centre please visit Cabinet 138 which can be found on the Lower Ground Floor to view a selection of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
