An antique orange lustre bowl by William Moorcroft, with a silver tone metallic rim trim.
The diameter is 102mm and the height 37mm.
The impressed MOORCROFT and BURSLEM marks on the base date the vase to c1914-1916. The shape identification number on the base is also an impressed mark.
After William Moorcroft left the James Macintyre works he set up his own factory at Cobridge on the outskirts of Burslem in 1913. This bowl is therefore from the very early days of Moorcroft pottery and a genuine antique.
The bowl is in excellent condition and may be of particular interest to a collector of antique Moorcroft pottery, or antique pottery in general. The metallic trims adds a degree of rarity and sophistication to the bowl.
This antique Moorcroft bowl is available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
