A mid size vintage Moorcroft squat vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter is 134mm (5.27inch) and the height 110mm (4.33inch).
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern been introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
Regarding the age of this vase there is part of the Royal Warrant paper label remaining on the base i.e. of the type in use from 1953 to 1978.
This vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted. Any crazing, often associated with vintage Moorcroft items, is very mild. There is a small area with raised 'glaze waves' under the rim seemingly from the time of manufacture, rather insignificant and unlikely to be viewable from the images so mentioned for accuracy.
The colours on the red and yellow tone hibiscus flowers are bright and on the mid to dark green ground make for a very attractive item which really does display beautifully.
The vase should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery but of course the physical size means it may be considered suitable to display as a stand alone item, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room.
This vintage Moorcroft squat vase in the hibiscus design is available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please view Cabinet 138, situated on the Lower Ground Floor, where other items of Moorcroft Pottery can be seen.
