Vintage Moorcroft vase in the Orchid pattern.
The height of the vase is 91mm.
The orchid pattern was originally developed by William Moorcroft c1937 and further developed by Walter Moorcroft in the 1940's and 1950's .
The vase shape combined with the floral design on an ivory tone ground makes for a highly attractive and tactile item.
The vase is in excellent condition with the colours remaining bright and only faint crazing present.
Regarding the age of the vase it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
As a there is no year cypher on the vase the latest possible date of manufacture would be 1989 however this can be narrowed down further as below.
The large impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND marks in upper case suggests a date range c1949 to 1986.
Referral to reference book states the orchid design was last used in 1972.
From the condition of the vase and the detail above the vase might reasonably be assessed as been made c1950/60's and clearly of a genuine vintage age.
The orchid pattern on an ivory tone ground appears a rarer colour combination than often seen. A very lovely vase which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
