A vintage Moorcroft shallow bowl in the Lemon design by Sally Tuffin.
The diameter is 260mm (10.2 '') the height 31mm and the weight 804g.
The Lemon design was introduced in 1988 and withdrawn 1990 a fairly short production run which would mean a limited number of items produced. The design does appear much rarer than many available on the secondary market.
On the base there are impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND backstamps along with a further green painted mark showing the paintress to be Wendy Mason, plus the WM initials for William John Moorcroft.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over the full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
The bowl has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition.
An impressive piece which may well be suitable for display as a stand alone specimen item if preferred, as well as been part of a collection.
This Moorcroft Lemon shallow bowl is only available online however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please do visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery.
