A vintage Moorcroft pin dish in the Black Tulip design by Sally Tuffin.
The diameter is 116mm and the height 20mm.
The impressed bell mark on the base is the year cypher for 1991 showing this as the year the pin dish was made.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over the full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
Additionally Black Tulip appears quite a rare design so likely of particular interest to collectors.
Condition:-
Vintage items may have imperfections due to usage, age and manufacturing processes available at the time. Any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description but please do study images carefully.
This item has been very closely inspected and to perhaps be pedantic there is a little area of unevenness that can be felt when running a finger around the rim. This was checked with the aid of a loupe glass and appears to be under the glaze i.e. as it left the factory. The pin dish seems otherwise to be in mint condition.
This Black Tulip design pin dish is available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples, plus a selection of collectibles and items of silverware.
