A large Moorcroft vase in the Indigo pattern by Emma Bossons.
The height is 155mm (6.1inch) the diameter (across the widest section of the body) 129mm (5.07inch) and the weight 650g.
In 1990 Moorcroft started to use year cyphers on their pottery i.e. symbols on the base to show when an item was made, which may be different to the copyright date. The base stamps on this vase include ©99 as the design copyright date and the Key with double M for the teeth symbol to show year 2000 as the actual year of production.
The vase is in excellent overall condition, in fact superb might be a better description.
The vase has the appearance of quite a substantial piece with an attractive combination of style and sophistication. Its physical size means it may well be suitable to display as a stand alone specimen item as well as been part of a collection.
This Moorcroft vase in the Indigo pattern is available by ordering online or by visiting the Antiques Centre in York where it can be found, along with other examples of Moorcroft pottery, in Cabinet 138 which is situated on the Lower Ground Floor.
