A pattern 1855 bayonet for the Lancaster rifle complete with its brass mounted scabbard. Condition is excellent with no pitting or rust. There are just one or two very very minor blemishes on the blade. It would be very difficult to find a better example of this scarce bayonet. When this bayonet became obsolete it was not sold out of service but returned to stores to be re-issued to the R.A.M..C. as a side arm in the first world war. At the end of hostilities it was withdrawn, had the muzzle ring modified then it was cut down and issued again as a knife bayonet to various units. Proof of identity must be provided before this weapon can be released. I will post outside of the U.K.but only at the buyers risk.
