Georgian, George III, set of four crested Scottish silver pedestal salts of navette form with reeded borders. Each is raised upon an oval pedestal foot. Each salt has a faded crest for the Stuart family of Bute. A heraldry report accompanies this item.
Condition is very good with moderate to high surface wear. Some pitting to the interiors, presumably from salt staining, as the interiors are not gilded.
Each is hallmarked with the thistle for Edinburgh sterling silver and the duty mark of the head of King George III. This dates these, for certain, to between 1760 and 1820, although these are likely to date between 1780 and 1810.
Approximate weight of all four salts is 264 grams or 8.48 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions of one salt is 10.5 cm length, 6 cm height and 5 cm width.
