A very rare to find, pair of Roman ladies hollow gold earrings of coffee bean shape ,dating to circa the 2nd -3rd century AD.
Theses items which are seldom encounted still retain their original wires..
In the day it was well known practice that the Romans would fill the hollow gold with sulphate to give it weight ,cutting down on the cost of the gold but as would be expected the sulphate has long since gone.
There are a few small creases to the gold as seen but with no loses or perforations....a fabulous good looking pair of gold earrings .
Size 1.2 CM in Length.
Ex. Private Coventry collection from the mid 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins these items come complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
