A very nice looking late roman - byzantine period bronze reliquary cross ..
This item which dates to circa 8th -12th century AD, is in wonderful allover condition.
It still retain some original niello inlay to the surface as can be seen.
Originally this cross would have opened lengthwise and some small religious relic would have been deposited with in , however the cross is now locked in the closed position.
Presented now on a modern neck thong to allow it to be worn with modern day dress if so desired.
Size 4.0 CM in Length ( Actual.)
