A large vintage Moorcroft Shallow Bowl or Plate in the Magnolia pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
With a diameter of 254mm (10.00inch) and a height of 31mm (1.22inch) this is quite an impressive item which could be displayed as a stand alone specimen piece, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room etc.
The bright magnolia flowers on the dark blue ground make for a very attractive and decorative piece of art pottery.
Regarding age it can often be difficult to state with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, particularly with popular designs such as Magnolia. The design was introduced in 1976 but it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
However with this item the date range can be narrowed down as the style of the impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND marks on the base suggests it was made from 1986 but also as a there is no year cypher present the latest possible date should be 1989.
From the detail above it would be reasonable to assess the date of manufacture as c1986 to 1989 and clearly of genuine vintage age.
Condition:-
Vintage items may have imperfections due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage over many years and how an item has been stored. Small surface marks, tiny fleabites, areas of matt glaze, small idiosyncrasies etc etc may be present but any significant issues will always be highlighted.
This item has been very closely inspected and assessed as in very good vintage condition.
