Vice Admiral Sir Charles Richardson KCB, Royal Navy, A Late George III Yellow Metal & Citrine Coloured Crystal Armorial Fob Seal circa 1816. The citrine coloured crystal with cut chamfered edge and armorial carving of a lion, and anchor over a crown. The yellow metal with suspension ring, fluted and foliate detail.
Vice Admiral Sir Charles Richardson KCB (Knight Commander of the Military Division of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath) 1769 - 1850, of Painsthorpe Hall, East Riding of Yorkshire. His father was also a Royal Navy officer and was killed during the Battle of Trincomalee in 1782. Sir Charles joined the Royal navy in 1787 as a Captain's servant on HMS Vestal. He saw action during the Third Anglo-Mysore War (1790 - 1792) and the French Revolutionary Wars (1792 - 1802). He commanded HMS Alligator, HMS Centaur, HMS Caesar, HMS Semiramis, HMS Leander and HMS Topaze. A professional heraldry report accompanies this item.
