Description

Lieutenant-General Arthur Moyses William Hill, 2nd Baron Sandys (1792 -1860) Silver Snuff Box. Lord Hill fought in the Peninsular War at the Battles of Vittoria and Pampeluna. He was an Aide-De-Camp to the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo.

The inscription to the inside of the cover reads:

'Leeds Barracks May 8 1836. Presented to THE REVD. W. WOLLASTON BY LIEUT COLL. LORD ARTHUR HILL AND THE OFFICERS OF THE ROYAL SCOTS GREYS as a slight mark of their regard and their sense of his kindness in acting as their chaplain during the time the Regiment was quartered at Leeds'.

Hallmarked for London 1831 by Charles Rawling & William Summers.

In excellent condition with interior wear to the gilding. Free of dents, creases and repair.

Approximate weight is 109 grams or 3.5 troy ounces.

Approximate dimensions are 7.7 cm length, 5 cm width and 1.8cm depth.
