Large Victorian silver plated wrestling trophy cup and cover with ornate finial. The part fluted pedestal cup is raised on a circular foot and features twin leaf capped handles. There a number of vacant cartouches and one features an engraving of two wrestlers. The domed cover features a cherub as Britannia.
The cup belonged to Hexham Clark (Clarke), a well known Cumberland and Westmorland style heavyweight wrestler. He was active during the late Victorian period.
In excellent order with only very light surface wear.
The makers mark is that of Henry Bourne of Birmingham and dates to around 1890.
Approximate weight is 2.95 kilos.
Approximate dimensions are 55 cm height, 36 cm length and 22 cm diameter.
