An Elizabethan Period ,Decorated Stoneware Baluster Drinking Jug.

A fabulously rare Elizabethan period Stoneware Baluster drinking Jug.

This item which dates to circa 1580 -1610 AD,  is profusely decorated with a series of panels depicting dancing scenes.Below the the panels there is a band of inscription in the form of a dedication.

This item has had some minor  restoration and repair, which is to museum standard and with all original pieces as shown . Any restoration is very difficult to see and does not detract from what is a very rare item.

These drinking vessels are seldom offered for sale.

A fabulous piece which would enhance any collection. 

Originally produced in Raeren Germany in the late 16th century.

Size 22.5 CM in Height.
