A very nice looking bronze age period short stabbing sword ,from the Luristan culture
This item which dates to circa 1800-1200 BC, is a rare survivor of the period..
Very much resembling a large dagger ,this item would have been used in conjuction with a shield.
It is decorated with a crescent design just above the grip and as expected the bone / wood grip has long sinced perished.
The chip in the blade is without doubt a sword cut , as it is very likely this piece has seen combat.
Size 37.5 CM in Length.
Luristan culture.
Ex. Private collection formed in the 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
