Platinum Art Deco Ruby Sapphire and Diamond “Day & Night” Ring, circa 1930

A rare find this Art Deco Day and Night ring is delicately crafted with ruby, sapphire and diamonds and set in Platinum throughout. It has a centre band made up of calibre cut rubies and sapphires. Each has a total of 13 bright pinkish-red rubies and 13 deep blue sapphires. They are channel set within platinum, and hinged on either side are two additional diamond set bands. The 26 Old European cut diamonds are very bright with excellent scintillation, they are mille-grain set into the platinum. Estimated at 0.50ct total diamond weight. These hinged bands are also made of platinum, and allow the wearer to choose between different styles. Hence the name, 'Day and Night' ring. It's a unique piece which was favourable in the 1930s and the craftsmanship is excellent with the hinged articulation still remaining fluid.
