Leopold (Luitpold) Prince Regent of Bavaria (1821-1912) Silver Mounted Leather Wallet with Fitted Portrait Medallion. By Repute, Given by Prince Leopald of Bavaria (Son of Leopold Prince Regent) to Albert Baron Von Margutti Aide at Camp Franz Joseph Kaiser of Austria as a Diplomatic Gift. Prince Leopold and the Emperor Francis Joseph Hunted Together, Circa 1907/08. The Royal Cipher (Ornate Intertwined Lettering Topped by a Diamond and the Bavarian Crown) Relates to the Royal House of Wittelsbach to which Prince Regent Leopold and his son, Prince Leopold belonged.
The silver mounts are possibly Austrian with a maker's mark of FD. The exterior is of burgundy tooled leather with an interior of burgundy watermarked silk. There is a manufacturer's mark to the interior and this is possibly C. Eschenbach. The wallet opens to display the medallion, which can then stand freely as a desk piece with the rear of the wallet converting to a base. The medallion can be pushed out of its mount if required.
Approximate weight is 87 grams.
Approximate wallet dimensions are 9.3 cm length, 7.7 cm width and 1.2 cm depth.
Approximate medallion dimensions are 3.7 cm height and 3.1 cm width.
In good condition with some age related leather wear. The wallet and medallion are one piece. The first photo is two photos side by side, showing the exterior and interior.
