HMS Temeraire & The Battle of Trafalgar, An Oak Snuff Box.
Launched in 1798, from Chatham Dockyard, HMS Temeraire served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. She only fought in one action, at The Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, under the command of Captain Eliab Harvey. During this battle HMS Temeraire came to the assistance of HMS Victory, fighting and capturing two French ships, the Fougueux and Redoutable. She was broken up at the yard of John Beatson, Rotherhithe, London in 1838 and the box probably dates to this period.
