Description

A 19th Century Gilt Copper Electrotype Copy of a late 17th Century German Tankard. Similar to the Elkington electrotype copies of important pieces housed in museums. This process allowed for high quality reproductions of works of art. The manufacturers mark to the underside of the base is quite rubbed, but possibly continental. This tankard dates to circa 1870 - 1890. The date and crest, fitted on a disc to the underside of the cover, are likely copied from the original work of art.

In very good condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. Wear to the gilding, but free of dents, creases or repairs. Higher wear and markings to the underside of the base. This is designed for display purposes as opposed to a drinking tankard.

Approximate weight is 356 grams.

Approximate dimensions are 15.5 cm height, 9.7 cm base diameter and 11.5 cm length.
