Late Victorian bar brooch with link design leading to a snake that weaves up and over the central coral. The snake or serpent being extremely popular in the Victorian era beginning when Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a ring in the shape of a snake. To Victoria the snake embodied eternal love and promised her a "Happy Ever After".
Measuring 47mm long and having a hinge pin with 'C' catch. No hallmark but tests as 15ct gold. Weight 4.7g.
