The Battle of the Glorious First of June was part of the War of the First Coalition and the French Revolutionary Wars. It was also known as the Third and Fourth Battles of Ushant. HMS Queen was part of Lord Howe's British Channel Fleet. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn 21\u003csup\u003est\u003c\/sup\u003e August 1797, under the command of Captain John King Pulling, HMS Penguin pursued an escaping privateer, the 18-gun French corvette \u003ci\u003eOiseau\u003c\/i\u003e, off the Irish coast. Vice-Admiral Kingsmill, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy in Ireland, credited some of his success to the Oiseau's disorder and the rough seas. He also praised his men, especially his First Lieutenant, Mr. George Neat Tremlett, for 'their Zeal and steady Exertion during the Chace [sic] working the Guns Knee high in Water for upwards of an Hour and an Half, carrying a great Press of Sail, with a heavy Sea, making fair Breaches constantly over us'.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt the time of his death he was the oldest officer in the Royal Navy, after joining in 1780.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHallmarked for London 1772 by William Grundy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApproximate weight is 123 grams or 3.9 troy ounces.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eApproximate capacity is 288 ml.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn good condition, being free of dents, creases and repair.
