A British Victorian Drummers' Sword Mark 1 pattern 1856. Fully identified on both the hilt and scabbard for the 1st Corps East Yorkshire Rifle Volunteers, 5th Battalion, Bridlington. Formed on the 19th January 1860 until their integration in 1876 into other units. The straight double-edged blade finishes in a spear point and has the monogram 'RIFLE BAND VOLUNTEER'. The brass cruciform hilt is in the Gothic style with the Victorian monogram in the centre of the cross-guard. The scabbard is of black leather with brass shape and locket c/w frog stud, the scabbard is also marked with the respective regiment details.
