A Victorian mourning brooch with a lock of the deceased's hair encased in glass. Seed pearls were used to symbolise tears. Fine black enamel decoration. Circa 1870's.
No markings but tests as 15ct gold.
There has been an engraving on the back which has worn off slightly.
