Antique Georgian silver fruit serving/table spoon.
The bowl of the spoon features an embossed fruits design. The front of the handle is further embellished with foliate design.
This decoration was probably applied much later than the original manufacture … it was a fashionable thing to have done in Victorian times.
The spoon is fully hallmarked for London, 1816, the George III duty mark and it bears the mark for possibly the maker Thomas Purver.
All marks are crisp and clear.
The spoon bowl measures 4.5 cm (1.75") by 8 cm (3"). The overall length is 22 cm (8.5"). It weighs 54g.
All measurements are approximate.
The spoon is in very good condition. There is slight evidence that the bowl of the spoon was gilded, but this is now mostly gone.
