Antique Georgian silver fruit serving/table spoon with gilded bowl.
The bowl of the spoon features an embossed fruits design. The front of the handle is further embellished with a bright cut foliate design.
This decoration was probably applied much later than the original manufacture … it was a fashionable thing to have done in Victorian times.
The spoon is fully hallmarked for London, 1788 and has the George III duty mark. The maker's mark is too worn to make any judgement.
The remaining marks are crisp and clear.
The spoon bowl measures 4.5 cm (1.75") by 8 cm (3"). The overall length is 22 cm (8.5"). It weighs 53g.
All measurements are approximate.
The spoon is in very good condition.
