Antique Georgian silver fruit serving/table spoon with a gold washed bowl interior.
The bowl of the spoon features an embossed fruits design. The front of the handle is further embellished with foliate design. This decoration was probably applied much later than the original manufacture … it was a fashionable thing to have done in Victorian times.
The spoon is fully hallmarked for London, 1816, the George III duty mark and it bears the mark for the sought after maker William Bateman. All marks are clear, though the maker's mark is more rubbed than the others.
The spoon bowl measures 4.5 cm (1.75") by 8 cm (3"). The overall length is 22 cm (8.5"). It weighs 55g. All measurements are approximate.
