A very rare and seldom seen anglo saxon openwork buckle plate.
This item which dates to circa 6th-7th century AD,is incredibly rare.
It would have been mounted to the end of a leather waist belt and would have had the buckle attached.
It still shows the evidence of some gilding still remaining and have originally been mounted with a large garnet stone in red.
It would have in its day conveyed the image of wealth and status.
Ex. Hertfordshire excavations in the 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
