A very rare anglo saxon bronze cruciform long brooch.
This item dates to circa early 6th -7th century AD.
It has a square headplate (small old chip to the corner ) and a long arched bow
with a stylised horses head foot plate.
The iron fastening pin has been lost in antiquity, as have the side lugs to the headplate.
These lugs would have resembled the top one which has been cast into the headplate.
The two missing lugs would have sat on an iron axis bar and have become seperated as the iron eroded.
A fabulous large brooch seldom offered for sale.
East Anglia excavations in 1969.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
