Vintage Moorcroft vase in the Columbine pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The height of the vase is 91mm
Columbine was Walter Moorcroft's first independent design, drawn in 1947. Small numbers were produced until the early 1980's when he then designed a full range, initially on blue grounds but other colours followed.
The lovely floral design on the light blue ground makes for a highly attractive combination.
The vase is in excellent condition and the colours remain bright.
Regarding age it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
As a there is no year cypher on the vase the latest possible date of manufacture would be 1989 but the large impressed MOORCROFT mark on the base along with the MADE IN ENGLAND mark in upper case suggests an actual date range c1950 to 1986.
It is clearly therefore a genuine vintage item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of Moorcroft pottery.
