A very fine quality Viking Ship builders iron Adze Tool.
This item which dates to circa 9th -10th century AD, is in fabulous allover condition.
It would have been used in a similar way to an axe, however it cuts in the opposite direction, making it ideal to work on the long planks of wood which made up the sides of the Viking long ships.
In fully conserved condition and complete with wooden display stand.
Size 16.0 CM in Length.
Ex. North Yorkshire find and collection formed in the 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
