A fabulously rare roman terracotta oil lamp decorated on the discus with a large figure of a winged victory standing on a globe.
This lamp which dates to circa 2nd -3rd century AD, is in wonderful all over condition.
Victory was much revered in the Roman world and associated with the gods Jupiter and mars and as such was especially worshipped by the Roman army.
