A Roman Large Bronze Military Belt Mount Decoration.reference no SN11257
A fabulous large roman bronze military belt mount decoration.
This item which is often called a propeller mount dates to circa 1st -2nd century AD.
It would have been one of ten or twelve which would have sat either side of the belt buckle to stiffen the belt and give it an impressive appearance. This particular piece still retains a small amount of tinning or silvering to the centre area together with two retaining rivets..
Ex. Private North Yorkshire collection from the 1970s.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
