A mid size vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The height is 131mm (5.15 inch) the diameter (across the widest section of the body) 101mm and the weight 447g.
A lovely design with both red and yellow hibiscus flowers.
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
The year an item was actually made can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
As a there is no year cypher on the vase the latest possible date of manufacture should be 1989 and this also coincides with the style of the impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND backstamps on the base which indicate a date range c1949 to 1986. The vase is clearly of genuine vintage age.
Condition:-
Vintage items may have imperfections due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage perhaps over many years and how an item has been stored. Small surface marks etc may be present. Any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description and high quality images are provided. Of course any questions will be answered as accurately as possible.
The vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent vintage condition.
The colours remain bright and on the dark green ground make for an attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
Of course the physical size of this vase jar means it may be suitable to display and admire as a stand alone item, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room.
