A very rare and seldom seen romano -celtic ,bulls head bronze strap union.
This item which dates to circa 1st century AD , is in wonderful allover condition.
It would have been fitted between the front legs of a roman cavalry horse on three leather straps.
The very large bulls head was a symbol of strength to the iron age celts and of course a symbol with connections to the mithras cult, of the roman military elite.
A fabulous piece with a good hard patina to the bronze. This sort of item is seldom seen outside of important collections and is in untouched condition.
Lincolnshire excavations in 1973.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
