A very nice quality british bronze age socket and loop style axe head . This item which dates to circa 900-600 BC , is in very nice condition. It is complete with its original loop which would have secured the axe head to the wooden shaft. It has a dark colour patina to the bronze and small amount of red couperite are present, which is a natural bi product of the bronze. It is decorated with a three line chevron to either side and overall has much style and form. A very small dink to the cutting edge is present as can be seen ,but the is part of its history when used nearly 3000 years ago. Found oxfordshire 1979.
