Georgian, George III, Irish silver gilt cup and cover with twin, leaf capped, scroll handles. The domed cover features bright cut and prick work decoration as well as a flame finial. The main body features a reeded girdle and two vacant cartouches. The cup sits on a spreading pedestal foot.
Condition is excellent with no dents, creases or splits. There is a loss of gilt and some wear to the cartouches, presumably where an erasure has taken place
Hallmarked to the main body for Dublin 1772 by Charles Townsend & Michael Cormick. The cover is not hallmarked, but tests to 860/1000 silver.
Approximate weight is 2.310 kilos or 74 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 41 cm height, 30 cm handle to handle length and 18 cm depth.
