The central reserve of this plate features the Royal Lily pattern that dates back to the late 1700s. The border has regular geometric and floral images. The design appears to be a mix of printing and hand painted finishing/gilding. We have not been able to find the exact pattern name for this plate, but from the marks in the underside we believe its identifier is B497.
The plate measures 26.5 cm (10.5") in diameter.
The plate is backstamped for 1878. There are additional impressed marks of a crown topped "Worcester", "M" and "N5", and a decorator/quality controller's hand painted mark.
The plate is in very good condition. No chips, cracks or crazing has been noted. There are some surface scratches, but these are mainly confined to the white areas so do not mar the pattern too much. There is also some minor wear to the gilding.
