A vintage Moorcroft inverted rim bowl in the Anemone pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter of the bowl is 110mm, the height 36 mm and the weight 184g.
In excellent condition.
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made. As there is no year cypher on the bowl the latest possible date of manufacture would be c1989.
The impressed MOORCROFT mark on the base along with the MADE IN ENGLAND mark suggests an actual date range c1949 to 1986.
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
By referring to reference book the design on this bowl closely resembles a c1949 example of Walter Moorcroft following William Moorcroft's pre war design but further research could be undertaken.
The bowl is within the c1949 to 1986 range and quite possibly at the earlier end but at whatever part of the range it is, it is clearly of genuine vintage age.
An attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft.
