Vintage Moorcroft Pin Dish in the Orchid Pattern - c1960's
We have 1 in stock.
Vintage Moorcroft pin dish in the Orchid pattern.
The orchid pattern was originally developed by William Moorcroft c1937 and further developed by Walter Moorcroft in the 1940's and 1950's.
The colours on this pin dish remain bright and the lovely orchid design on dark blue ground makes for a highly attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
Condition: - The pin dish may be described as in very good vintage condition. To perhaps be pedantic there is a little unevenness felt when rubbing a finger around the rim and some very faint glaze crazing. Both of these are very minor and difficult to show on the images, so are mentioned here for accuracy.
The pin dish continues to display beautifully.
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
As a there is no year cypher on the pin dish the latest possible date of manufacture would be 1989 but to narrow this down further the large impressed MOORCROFT mark on the base along with the MADE IN ENGLAND mark in upper case suggests a date range c1950 to 1986.
Furthermore, referral to reference book states the orchid design was last used in 1972.
From the condition of the pin dish and the detail above it can reasonably be assessed as made c1960's and clearly of genuine vintage age.
