Antique Moorcroft saucer in the Pomegranate design by William Moorcroft.
The diameter of the saucer is 115mm and the height 20mm.
There is the William Moorcroft initials plus impressed MOORCROFT and BURSLEM marks on the base on which a date assessment of c1914-1916 has been based.
The Pomegranate design was introduced c1910-1911 while William Moorcroft was still with the James Macintyre works but was continued by him when he set up his own factory at Cobridge on the outskirts of Burslem in 1913. The design became Moorcroft's most successful design.
This saucer dates from the very early days of Moorcroft pottery.
Generally in excellent condition considering its age. There is crazing present but more evident on the underside rather than the surface.
An opportunity for a collector to add an attractive piece of antique Moorcroft pottery to a collection.
