A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Lemon design by Sally Tuffin.
The height is 96 mm
The Lemon design was introduced in 1988 and withdrawn 1990 a fairly short production run which would mean a limited number of items produced. The design does appear much rarer than many available on the secondary market.
There are impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND backstamps on the base along with a further, rather faint backstamp, showing the tube liner to be Gillian Leese.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over the full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
The vase has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition.
Nb It has been noticed when looking into the vase from the top there is a small variation from been completely circular. The vase displays beautifully but is mentioned for accuracy of description.
This Moorcroft Lemon vase is only available online however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please do visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery.
