A vintage Moorcroft inverted rim bowl with a pattern graduating from dark blue to a mottled brown/rust colour, by William Moorcroft.
The diameter of the bowl is 113mm and the height 31mm.
This bowl has a number of impressed backstamps on the base i.e. William Moorcroft's signature, POTTER TO HM THE QUEEN and MADE IN ENGLAND marks.
These backstamps give a date for this bowl of c1928 to 1949.
Condition: The bowl is far from perfect from a manufacturing point of view. There are some lighter colour patches within the brown section and some uneven and even missing glaze areas. On a more positive note there are no chips or cracks and only a few minor marks as would be expected due to age.
While not perfect this item appears to be quite a rare object and offers a collector of vintage and unusual pieces of Moorcroft pottery to add interest and variety to a display.
