A boxed vintage Moorcroft vase in the Anemone pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The height of the vase is 95mm.
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
This vase features the 1989 version of the anemone design. There are two flowers of different colours against a dark blue ground. This version seems to give greater prominence to the foliage and a more dramatic image, although different people will interpret the designs in their own way.
There is a diamond symbol on the base of the vase which is the year cypher for 1993, showing this as the actual year the vase was made, and hence of genuine vintage age.
The monogram on the base shows the paintress to be Haley Smith.
In excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
There is also a box which is in very good condition.
Overall a very attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
Available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery, from early vintage pieces to more modern examples, plus a selection of collectibles and items of silverware.
