A late 18th century George 111 Silver Mounted Yeomanry Sword. The 82 cm plain single edged blade double edged for the last 18 cms with a broad fuller. The silver Spadroon type hilt has with a bowed pierced guard. It has an angular knuckle bow with double bars one worked as stylised grenades. The sword has a down swept disc quillon and ribbed ivory grip. The hilt carries London hall marks and was possibly made by Joseph Biggs. There is no scabbard. There is some gray patching and light pitting to the blade and a split to the ivory grip. A very nice sword of the Napoleonic war era.
