A superb British Royal Navy Midshipman's Dress Dirk of 1897 pattern, bearing the monogram on the blade of King George VI. The grip is covered in white shark skin bound with gilt wire The gilt pommel is in the form of a Lions head with its mane as the backstrap. The 'S' shaped gilt cross guard has the fouled anchor shield in the centre. The plated blade is etched with GVIR monogram and the fouled anchor, a button on the rear of the cross guard attaches to s spring clip to secure the dirk into its scabbard. The scabbard is of black leather with top locket having twin suspension rings and a bottom chape also of gilt brass.
