Fabulous, Very Rare Winners Medal from the Coppa Florio 1905. Gold Plated solid silver plaque byParisian Jeweller Polak Aine featuring the winners trophy, also created by him, with “Coppa Vincenzo Florio - 1905” and “Gagne par Itala”to the front, and the circuit “Ricordo Brescia 1905” to the rear, in original box marked ‘Coupe Florio Gagnee Par Itala 1905’ on the top.
These medals were awarded to the competing drivers and co-pilots. This was the first of a series of races instigated by Italian Count Vincenzo Florio. The winner of the series was awarded a cash prize of £50,000 and the art nouveau style gold plated solid silver trophy, created by Polak Aine at a cost of £100,000.
The box is well worn and a little fragile, the medal is in excellent condition.
The box is 8.8cm x 5.2cm x 1.7cm
